Canal Street Yardley

My painting, "Canal Street Yardley" Oil on Canvas 16"x20"
I love Canal Street with it's quaint homes and beautiful blossoming trees. The 12 Days of Christmas displays are a beautiful sight that me and my family drive through every year to see. After painting a few snow scenes recently, I wanted to capture it in spring before this winter storm hits. Stay safe everyone!

Church Street Snowfall

"Church Street Snowfall" 24" x 36" Oil on Canvas
Church Street is in Lambertville, NJ where I find much inspiration, and I'm excited and hoping to brighten your Monday with this new painting. This painting just flowed for the most part. I needed a release from commission work where I have to get everything just right, and it felt so good to paint with big bold brushstrokes just going by feel and on Canvas! I rarely paint on canvas... now I'm gonna have to do more. I was out of boards so I grabbed a canvas that's been sitting in my studio for probably 6 years, and I really enjoyed the way it responded to the paint. I think I'll hang this over the mantle for a while to enjoy before bringing up to the gallery. Hope you enjoy it too. ‪#‎snowscenes‬ ‪#‎Lambertville‬ ‪#‎winter‬ ‪#‎christmasshopping‬ ‪#‎art‬‪#‎oilpainting‬

View from Bowman's Tower

| 12 October, 2015 11:48

"View from Bowman's Tower" 24" x 36" Oil on Board Available My daughter finally convinced me to take the long winding trek up the Bowman's Tower stairs. There were over 100 steps (believe me she counted each one) and once we huffed our way up and got to the top the view was stunning. So glad she persuaded me to go and I dedicate this painting to her. Located in Washington's Crossing Park, this hill may have been a lookout for George Washington and his troops to monitor enemy activity along the Delaware.

"Hope" 18"x24" Oil on Board
Bridges can represent travel, progress or a transition between 2 things. To me, they symbolize beauty, peace and most of all, hope.

Patterson Farm, Artists of Yardley Center

"Patterson Farm" ... Oil on Board ... 18"x40"
I've finally painted the home of the Artists of Yardley. This is a long expansive farmscape- measuring 40" long. I finally found a composition, lighting and time of year that worked for me. I also had this unusual size board laying around and it really lent itself to the composition. Great size for over a mantle. I painted this while listening to lots of solo piano music with thick paint, directional brushstrokes, light flickering sky, brightly lit barns, deep shadowed foreground, waving wheat fields and fresh spring colors on my mind. Midway through this painting my palette fell to the floor for no apparent reason and shattered. I'll be using my backup, palette paper, until I can make a new one.

“Canal Path in Spring” 30” x 40”

| 23 February, 2015 13:24

“Canal Path in Spring” 30” x 40”

Just Sold this commissioned piece to a wonderful couple. They had seen my painting titled, “Canal Bridge Light” which is 18”x24”, but they wanted something larger to put over their sofa. They also wanted it to have more notes of spring as reminders of their many walks along the canal path so they asked me to use a camelback bridge, and put in daffodils and a family of Mallard ducks. I was delighted with all of these new challenges and excited to see how they would all come together. I found that I enjoyed painting larger, so much that I’ve since painted 2 larger scenes. “Canal in Fall” pictured in a previous post and a river night scene that is still in progress. Both are 24”x36”. I also found that the elements they requested were not only a challenge, but a joy for me to paint and really created a story within the painting. Their story. The best and most gratifying part was when we met and they were so happy with the finished painting. I have found the connections that are made through art to be one of the biggest driving forces that compels me to create. It is such a blessing to have people appreciate and share in your artistic vision. It was truly a pleasure and an honor for me to work on this piece and I’m so happy that it’s going to a good home.
